What's it About?
New York socialite Florence Foster Jenkins fancied she could sing. Forget that she had no sense of rhythm or pitch, and was barely able to sustain a note-- she was convinced that she had talent! Instead of being deterred by a 1943 taxicab crash she “realized” she could sing "a higher F than ever before!" Her accompanist and confidante, Cosme McMoon, attempted to protect her from herself to no avail. A diva in her own mind, she insisted on renting Carnegie Hall for a dazzling, costume- festooned benefit concert. Jenkins’ quest illuminates the silliest and most poignant of human foibles — our own often skewed vision of who we are.
